The bus driver was brilliant and very entertaining. He typified everything we love about Irish people. The information audio was also great, explaining the landmarks etc we were passing by and identifying the next bus stop, by number, in plenty of time. All in all, a wonderful experience.

Booked the hop-on hop-off for our short trip—def worth the money. Saw all the major sights and the drivers had loads of local tips. Bit busy midday but if you start early, it’s much quieter. Highly recommend for anyone new to Dublin.

The bus stops at all the highlights within the City of Dublin. The roads are narrow and wind around many corners. All the drivers were experts in negotiating the routes, traffic and pedestrians. The drivers - who knew the history and stories were excellent. Listening to a pre-recorded message wasn't very good at all.

Finding the perfect Hop-on Hop-off pass duration

It can be overwhelming to decide which hop-on hop-off pass you should get. This guide can help you make a decision.

  • 24-hour pass: The 24-hour pass is ideal for you if you’re traveling with time constraints but still want to visit prominent attractions in Dublin, like Dublin Castle, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, or Temple Bar. It’s also a good pass for first-time visitors to Dublin who don’t want to deal with the hassle of public transport in the first couple of days in a new city. You can get a 24-hour pass from either Big Bus Dublin or City Sightseeing.
  • 48-hour pass: If you prefer sightseeing at a slower pace and have some more time on your hands to soak up the city, get a 48-hour pass. You can get a sense of the city’s essence on your first day and spend more time visiting key attractions on the second day. Both Big Bus and City Sightseeing Dublin
  • 72-hour pass: A slow, immersive experience is what you want? Then a 72-hour pass is the way to go! Three days is a lot of time to visit popular tourist attractions, some underrated ones on your bucket list, and also discover the hidden gems of Dublin. It would also be lighter on your purse to get a 72-hour pass rather than purchase three 24-hour passes. Both Big Bus and City Sightseeing provide 72-hour passes.
  • 24/48-hour pass + Guinness Storehouse: If you want to see the best of Dublin without the hassle of juggling multiple tickets or breaking the bank, this hop-on hop-off pass is your all-in-one solution. With just one ticket, you get unlimited access to open-top buses that stop at over 25 of the city’s top attractions, including Trinity College, Dublin Castle, and the iconic Guinness Storehouse, letting you explore at your own pace and on your own schedule. You can take a 90-minute self-guided tour of the Guinness Storehouse, where you’ll meet friendly ambassadors, discover the story behind Ireland’s most famous stout, and finish with a drink at the Gravity Bar, soaking up panoramic views over Dublin.
  • Panoramic night bus tour: If you're staying overnight and want to see the city on a leisurely night bus ride, then the Big Bus panoramic night bus tour is just up your alley. You can see Dublin sparkle after dark on a nonstop night tour, where a live guide brings the city’s illuminated icons to life with stories as you glide past.
