Pre-booking the tickets saved us a great deal of team was very easy to book it with headout. We decided to an afternoon trip to see the Acropolis and the Acropolis museum, we didn't have to wait long to get in which was fantastic. Plenty of seats to rest as you go up, definitely have comfortable shoes, water and take your time going up as there is plenty to see. When you get to the top although there was a bit of a crowd most people were respectful and actually helped each other including taking photos for each other. Amazing view of the city. The museum is amazing again well curated. The roof top café in the the museum was amazing you a wonderful view of Acropolis and it's reasonable priced.

Our visit to the Acropolis was fantastic and the headout ticket and advice about our visit were such a help to us. Highlight was definitely taking in the ancient site and having it tower over the modern city below. The scale of Athens was on full display up there and it gave amazing context to the achievement of simply building the city up there all those years ago. The crowds were insane, however getting in before the final entry of the day meant we missed the worst of the crowds as everyone else was arriving for sunset as we were leaving. 10/10!!!

Visiting the Acropolis in Athens was an incredible experience—truly awe-inspiring to walk among such ancient history and iconic architecture. Standing at the top, surrounded by the remnants of the Parthenon, I felt a deep sense of wonder and connection to the past. What surprised me, though, was how crowded it was. I didn’t expect that many tourists! It was definitely more packed than I imagined, which made the experience a bit hectic at times. Still, despite the crowds, being there and seeing it all in person was absolutely worth it.

As someone deeply passionate about Ancient Greek history and mythology, visiting the Acropolis was nothing short of a pilgrimage. Arriving in the early evening offered a perfect balance: the golden light cast a soft, almost divine glow across the Parthenon and surrounding ruins, bringing the myths I’ve long studied vividly to life. The crowds were definitely present — a testament to the site’s global significance — but they didn’t feel overwhelming. There was enough space to pause, reflect, and even hear your own thoughts as you gazed over Athens, imagining the philosophers, poets, and gods who once filled these same hills with ideas and legends. Whether you’re a devoted classicist or just curious about Greece’s ancient heart, I can’t recommend the early evening slot enough. The light, the breeze, the energy — it all makes the Acropolis feel not like a ruin, but a living piece of history.

Our tour guide was sooooo friendly and helpful. We had a prompt and smooth pick up from Old Parlliament and a smooth ride with audio out of Athens to Cape Sounion Attica region. The sunset was beautiful and we got back to Athens after 5 hours in a timely fashion. The tickets into the Temple of Parthenon cost 20euros extra

We were lucky to have 8 am tickets, since it was a 95 degree day! The site was incredible. Our tour guide pointed out many intricacies about the buildings, why they were designed the way they were, and the history of the site. It was one of the most spectacular places we've visited.

Wonderful experience. I took the latest slot. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful and funny. Wish it wasn't under construction but its a great reason to go back again one day when it is not. The views were great, the crowds moved quickly and I didn't feel there was a lot of wait time anywhere. Great team that keeps this place running!

We purchased tickets in advance online and arrived shortly before our scheduled entry time. We waited for a short time to be allowed to enter (maybe 10 minutes). It was somewhat crowded at 5 pm, but the crowds were easy to navigate with and through. It did not affect our enjoyment. The site is amazing to see in person! You can see te entire city. Of Athens and surrounding areas out to the sea. We visited in mid June and it gets SUPER hot so prehydrate and everyone take water. There are spots you can sit and take rest breaks in a bit of shade.

The Acropolis itself is spectacular, it is a millenary place and incredible! It would be very useful the audio guide to learn and understand where you are and what is what but it was good the tickets with no line and no problem to redeem them. The tourist bus is good for people who dedicate the time we had no problem using it but we did not have time so next time I do not buy it because I did not use it. To improve the location of the stops in piraeus and glyfada, we could never find them.

Good atmosphere, from the audience. It would be nice if there were a few more information boards. The kiosk wanted €7.50 for a pack of pringels which is extortionate. The general prices were very high, but this exceeded that.

The package is worth it, especially because it includes the entrance to the Acropolis and watching the sunset at the temple of Poseidon is beautiful. What I think is confusing is the beginning of the tour. We waited at the appointed place 15 minutes before our time and no one showed up. Then we went to exchange tickets and entered the Acropolis but we missed the first part of the tour.

The pick-up points were clear, uncluttered and precise, so there was nothing to report on that score. The sites we visited were magnificent and well worth the detour - and the weather was just right too 😍. The only negative point was the temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion. We had the (less pleasant) surprise to discover, once there, that we had to add €20 from our own pocket to gain access to the site. This point should be mentioned more clearly in the advert! Having said that, our guide was adorable, which helped us get over the hump 😊. In conclusion: a great day out, definitely worth doing again! But the details regarding entrance fees really should be better specified, for example: "Tickets for the temple of Poseidon are not included." Thank you for a memorable experience.

We took this bus by accident. We hadn't planned on it. We just happended to be near one of the stops. The ticket person was really friendly and explained all we needed to know about the tour and gave us a map of the route. The audio was adequate to cover the part of the city we were passing through. Great way to see Athens. It was also a good way to get back to our hotel. I recommend this tour.

Your guys working on every stations are lovely. Very helpful and kind. However I'd be happy if you just let me know on application or on mail about the bicycle race throughout Athens on Sunday, April 6th. It changed the routes and crossingpoints and I only heard of that on Sunday after buying my ticket.

The convenience of going around the city to see major main attractions and being able to stop wherever we want and then use the bus for transport back to the areas we wanted to revisit. Air conditioning could have definitely been better.

The departure times were never correct. The routes given online were also different from the ones actually taken. Not good for planning!!!

To be honest I have been disappointed as every single staff member I have been talking to never provided me the full information and also there were so many discrepancies between the information given which led to waste of our time and tiredness. I do work in English on a daily basis and understand and respect the different level of knowledge or culture of each other however I find unacceptable that they actually do not really understand or provide the full information allowing a smooth experience. I also used the chat which was extremely annoying and not been helpful at all. Finally yesterday we arrived early and I was with my parents who are now very old, I have asked more than once at what time we needed to be back, for which I have been told to come back at 11... I have checked on purpose and asked if we could board earlier on and he said no it will be 11. In the end we have arrived at 10:50 and the bus was full. To me when people are old and absolutely need to sit and I ask on top... this is unacceptable. Audio worked perfectly and good to have. Tour and locations proposed were nice. I hope this comment will help for future customers.

Easy way to get around and stops were easy to spot (once we knew what we were looking for - a pic of the bus stop sign sent with confirmation would be a good touch). The audio was not synced properly during our first trip around Athens, it was at least a stop behind the whole trip. The 2 employees working one of the cross over stops were giving conflicting directions about where they wanted people to que and then got rude when people were confused . The Riviera route was late returning from a last run due to traffic congestion and then the driver gave us wrong info and we missed our last bus back to Piraeus.

They sold me the tour in Spanish and when I got on the bus they had no Spanish translation. I was scammed. Misleading advertising. Total disaster. They don't want to give me my money back.

It is important that the driver behave politely and try to help the customer with the audio system that was not working, rather than telling the customer to return to the location. Due to the loud music on the audio system, I could not hear the explanations.

Your guys working on every stations are lovely. Very helpful and kind. However I'd be happy if you just let me know on application or on mail about the bicycle race throughout Athens on Sunday, April 6th. It changed the routes and crossingpoints and I only heard of that on Sunday after buying my ticket.

Only have 24 hours to spend in Athens? Worry not! There’s a lot of ground you can cover in that time. Board a bus on the Athens Line (Grey Route) and begin your day with:

  • A visit to the National Archaeological Museum. Take a step back in time as you wander through these halls, discovering the art and antiques of the Ancient Greeks.
  • Keep the museum momentum going by heading to the New Acropolis Museum, a cultural landmark dedicated to preserving millennia-old Greek art and traditions.
  • After a quick lunch in the neighborhood, board the bus to the Acropolis. Home to the Parthenon, and several other iconic Ancient Greek monuments, the Acropolis is a must-see for both history lovers and casual visitors.
  • In the early evening, head to the Temple of Zeus. No Athenian itinerary is complete without a visit to this monument. Dedicated to the king of the Olympians, this architectural marvel is a testament to the timelessness of Ancient Greek culture.
  • End your day by grabbing dinner at a local eatery.

If you’re a slow-paced traveler who prefers to take your time exploring, then two days should be just the right amount of time for you to see the very best of Greece. Here’s how you can spend those two days:

Day 1: The sandy shores of Athens are postcard-perfect and begging to be explored. So, board the Riviera Line early on in the day and prepare yourself for a day of seaside adventuring. Visit Vouliagmeni Lake, Glyfada Beach, and Kavouri Beach, and spend your morning sunbathing on the shores or wading through the waves. After lunch, board a bus on the Athens Line and head to the Acropolis. Spend the afternoon discovering the Parthenon and other ancient monuments that have stood the test of time.

Day 2 - Athens Line (Grey Route): Begin your day with a visit to the majestic Temple of Zeus, a characteristic landmark of Athens. After an early lunch, spend your afternoon wandering the halls of the National Archaeological Museum and the New Acropolis Museum. Wind down at the end of your day by doing a full loop of the Athens Line. Pull your phone out and capture the very best of the Athenian cityscape.

Tips to make the most of your Big Bus Athens bus tour

  • Wear your most comfortable walking shoes, especially when visiting ancient sites like the Acropolis. Not only do you have a lot of ground to cover, but the terrain can also be uneven.
  • Be prudent and carry some cash with you. Although most places in Athens accept digital payments, some local vendors might insist on cash transactions.
  • The Mediterranean weather can be brutal. So be generous with your sunscreen application. Also, carry a reusable water bottle with you and stay hydrated!
  • Make dinner and lunch reservations before your tour. Most places are booked out in advance, especially during peak season.
  • If your itinerary includes visits to multiple popular attractions, consider getting a Turbopass Athens City Card. It offers free and discounted entry to plenty of museums and landmarks across Athens.
