We had a great adventure and experience learning about the history of Old York. As we are from New York! It was so easy to hop off and then hop back on at many places on the tour.
It was a wet day out in York but thankfully the hop on hop off bus provided us with some welcome cover and an interesting narration as we followed the circular route. Leaflets were plentiful so we knew where to get on and also where to pick up a bus to continue. We started outside the railway station and got off firstly at the York minster and then took a short walk to the beautiful Shambles area to enjoy the market and quaint shops. We paid online for 24 hours and just showed the QR Code on the phone to the bus driver to be issued a ticket. The buses were clean and came along quite frequently. I must add that each driver was so cheerful and chatty it took me aback a little on such a wet gloomy day! I would recommend this to save walking so much, it worked perfectly for us. We ended at the Railway museum which I didn't really think I'd enjoy but I was just so impressed at the actual size of these beautiful magnificent trains. There is a shop and a cafe too. All this for a donation, amazing. Note we had to walk a long way from the bus stop to enter the museum as there's massive work/improvements going on so the desk provided us with taxi numbers if needed to return to catch our train home.
We sat in the open top of a double decker bus, so had good all round views. The tour guide was very knowledgeable in describing the sights and buildings and their history as we went round. He took the time to answer individual questions. And even took pictures of us as well as other angles of sights from the bus that we couldn't reach sitting down. Couldn't fault them, first class customer service.
Bus stop was near our hotel, and we didn't wait for long before a bus appeared. Excellent view around York, and information about the places of interest. Good start point for a city visit.
The on bus commentary was superb and well synchronised. Also it changed enough each time we used the bus to get us to learn something different each time.
Bus had lots of stops, one very convenient to our hotel. The guide was funny and informative and all the staff were very friendly and polite. Good value to get some history of York and find your bearings.
It was an easy way to explore York. Especially with my parents having mobility problems

The bus tour was worth every penny and the drivers and staff so friendly. Helpful and very informative while going around the City.
The guide was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining which made our journey all the more fun. We were also lucky with the weather so able to sit at the back of the open top.
Your man Morgan was an absolute star in helping us getting a taxi!
