I had the impression we could stay on at the last stop on the route and carry on back round the loop. Digital voice informed us all to alight. This was bit disappointing. Live tracker aspect to identify bus location very useful in bad weather.

We only used the bus to get to one place. On the way back, the bus stopped and we were told that it was done for the day. We had to get out and get a taxi back to our hotel. It wasn't worth the money for us.

The first bus we rode was good - they had an audio presentation over loud speaker. subsequent buses - not so good as no audio - or no headsets to listen to audio. Driver couldnt help. So no different than riding regular bus past big buildings.

    Hallgrímskirkja

Reykjavik’s most iconic landmark looks like it was plucked straight out of a sci-fi movie—and that’s part of its charm! This towering church offers killer views from its observation tower and is perfect for snapping that postcard-worthy selfie.

    The Old Harbour

Rustic boats, whale-watching tours, quirky cafes—Reykjavik’s Old Harbour is where Icelandic charm meets modern elegance. It’s a great place to wander, snack on fresh seafood, and maybe hop on a puffin-spotting cruise.

    The National Museum of Iceland

Get a crash course in Icelandic history (no boring textbooks involved). From Viking ships to medieval swords and quirky art, this museum tells epic stories about the country’s wild past. Great for history buffs—or anyone who just loves a good saga.

    Harpa Concert Hall

This architectural gem is Reykjavik’s crystal palace. The glass facade catches the light perfectly, making it a favorite spot for photographers. Even if you’re not catching a performance, it’s worth it to just wander through.

Tips to make the best of your Hop-on Hop-off Reykjavik tour

    • Don’t ask for bottled water in Reykjavik unless you want the locals to judge you! The tap water is pure and entirely safe to drink.
    • If the waters of the Blue Lagoon are out of your budget, worry not! You can still take a dip in geothermally-heated local pools where plenty of locals and tourists come to socialise.
    • Note that there are mandatory hygiene rules that everyone, local or otherwise, has to follow before stepping into public pools. Make sure you wash yourself with soap before donning your swimwear and wading into the water.
    • Iceland’s weather is unpredictable – it can snow one second, and the sun will be out the next. So, regardless of the time of year you’re traveling, pack sweaters and scarves. Make sure you carry them with you on day trips around the city so you can pull them on when the weather changes.
    • Don’t be surprised if, when visiting an Icelander’s house, you are asked to take your shoes off. If you don’t prefer being barefoot indoors, we suggest you pack an extra pair of flip-flops for indoor use.
