Meeting point totally unclear and the fact that there are 2 companies with the same name practically didn't make it easy; we were confused, lost a lot of time and we had to take a taxi tl go to tge starting point to exchange our ticket. All this made it very uncomfortable. The visit alone was good.

More information during the tour would have been helpful. When the heavy rain came on water dripped on to the passengers on the lower deck. First set of headphones

Purchasing tickets online was easy. Finding stop and getting on right bus was more challenging. Staff were great and very helpful. The audio was intermittent (some kiosks where you plug the headphones were not operational) but when it worked it was a good commentary. We did both the Chinatown as well as the city tours for price of one day pass which means we covered a lot more of the city.

It was difficult to find the bus stop to start our tour. There is apparently another company whose buses are labeled Hop On Hop Off but they would not let us board and said they were a different company. And then not all the buses were red so we missed one because it was white and we had to wait 30 minutes for another. The audio jack didn't work at several seats and when it did play, it was garbled and staticky. Traffic meant we sat for a long time. We could have walked to all the stops quicker. We've done the red bus tour in many cities. This was definitely not a favorite for us.

No audio guide for the night tour. We missed the Buu Dien and only saw the rear of the Notre Dame. Would have been good to see the tanks at the Reunification Palace

The staff was very friendly and helpful, but the audio guide was very poor. Not much information, then in one bus there where No Connection for the Headphones nand this Bus was Not labeled for Hop on Hop off. If Not the friendly lady fromnzhe staff recognzied the Headphones, i would Not Go into the Bus. For the distance of the tour the prize was to high.

The opportunity to learn about the city we just arrived in. To be able to go back and see the city at night as well. Not all of the audio worked in all the seats. There were so many more buildings that we would have liked more information on that had nothing (like Bitexco #5 iconic building!). The stops were hard to find based on the map. The staff were all friendly.

Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica of Saigon

This striking red-brick cathedral, built in the late 1800s, is a true icon of the city. With its twin bell towers and grand facade, it’s a peaceful pause in the middle of all the city’s bustle.

War Remnants Museum

Visiting this museum is an emotional but essential experience while in Ho Chi Minh. Inside, you'll find powerful photo exhibits, captured military equipment, and grand displays that tell Vietnam's side of the war. One of the most striking parts is the outdoor section with tanks and a helicopter, and the tiger cages used in the old prison system.

Ben Thanh Market

A trip to Ho Chi Minh isn’t complete without a wander around Ben Thanh Market. It’s a buzzing, colorful maze of stalls where you can buy everything from souvenirs and textiles to fresh fruit smoothies and sizzling street food. The market has been around for more than a century and is still going strong! It especially comes alive at night when the food stalls pop up outside and locals and tourists mix over bánh mì, grilled seafood, and sweet Vietnamese desserts.

Ho Thi Ky Flower Market

Tucked away in District 10, this flower market is a burst of color and fragrance, open day and night, but especially lively in the early morning. You’ll see piles of roses, orchids, and lilies being carted through narrow alleys by cheerful vendors. Beyond the flowers, there's a hidden bonus: the nearby food street is a treasure trove of local eats, including Cambodian-influenced dishes that are hard to find elsewhere in the city.

Independence Palace (Reunification Hall)

This retro-modernist palace is where history once happened. In 1975, a tank crashed through its gates, symbolizing the end of the Vietnam War. Today, it’s preserved almost exactly as it was then. You can explore grand halls, meeting rooms, and the underground war command bunker. It’s like walking through a 1970s time capsule of Vietnamese political life.

Saigon Central Post Office

You don’t usually expect a post office to be gorgeous, but this one is! With its grand arches, vaulted ceilings, and old-school charm, it’s a delightful mix of function and French colonial flair. Inside, you’ll find wooden counters, tiled floors, and even vintage phone booths still intact. There’s also a massive map painted on the wall and a portrait of Ho Chi Minh keeping watch.

Museum of Fine Arts & Nguyen Hue Walking Street

This lovely museum, housed in an old colonial mansion, is full of Vietnamese artwork, from ancient sculptures to modern abstract pieces. After you explore the museum, you can take a stroll down Nguyen Hue Walking Street. It’s wide, lively, and full of locals doing everything from dancing and rollerblading to playing music. There are tons of cafes and bookshops nearby if you want to grab a drink and watch the world go by.

Tips to make the best of your Hop-on Hop-off Ho Chi Minh tour

  • All the festivals and cultural celebrations in the city are based on the Lunar Calendar. So consult it when planning your visit, so you can avoid tourist and local crowds on the street during these events.
  • Dress comfortably and according to your style and preferences. However, when visiting places of worship like temples and pagodas, it is best to avoid scant or tight-fitting clothing.
  • If you’re visiting between May to November, be prepared for sporadic rainfall. Carry an umbrella or a light jacket with you to fight off the chill.
  • The Ho Chi Minh Book Street in District 1 is a reader’s paradise, with plenty of small bookstores and cafes lining the street on either side.
  • Treat yourself to noodle-based soups and dishes like pho, bun bo Hue, and bun cha Hanoi during your visit.
