We took the bus tour as a way of visiting London with friends visiting from Slovakia We liked the choice of routes but were disappointed that the bus did not go close to Buckingham palace . We especially likedthe river cruise with its commentary . It was a very busy day with very heavy traffic at times which made progress along the routes.very slow. Overall it was a good way to see the main sites of London but due to the time we had to get off the bus at paddington so could not complete the blue route.

Good circuits, pleasant customer service. Having some upstairs option undercover a good idea. Having a pick up outside the station very helpful. On the bad side: Low quality ear buds, some brand new ones not working. Some sound outlets also not working, meaning that you have to change seats to get a working outlet. This email is incorrect as we did NOT book a river cruise as time did not permit.

We had a fantastic time with the Tootbus hop-on hop-off and Thames cruise combo! The boat ride was absolutely stunning — a true highlight of our London trip, with beautiful views and a relaxing atmosphere. However, the app wasn’t updated, so the bus didn’t stop where we expected at times, which was a bit confusing. Still, overall a great experience and highly recommended for first-time visitors!

I really enjoyed it because I got to see effortlessly and indeed breezily all the most beautiful things in London. The only thing that didn't always work was the correspondence between the audio guide and the monument or place to see. Otherwise super recommended.

We wanted to get on the green route at King's Cross and would have had to wait over 45 minutes. We then took the underground to Westminster and got on the bus there. The yellow route was great! Also the tour guide over the headphones! Very good! The blue route was very difficult to get through the traffic. I thought the price for the one-day ticket was too expensive. Especially as I bought it for a total of 4 people.

Plenty of stops and helpful roadside staff on the yellow line were a godsend On a wet Saturday in London there were many problems on the roads and the drivers were terrible. Stair hatches not closed and leaking downstairs windows and doors made it miserable. Drivers were not engaging, drove with both excessive speed and heavy braking, and too much horn. One driver on blue route between Harrods and Marble Arch had his head covered by his hoodie the whole time, did not wait for people to sit down before moving and said nothing. He should not be doing this job!

Really helpful staff, however couldn't find the QR code on the river cruise to listen to the commentary, and couldn't find the headsets for the commentary on the bus. Bus route diversion due to local challenges wasn't explained so not sure if we went past what we wanted to see. Otherwise, a good trip and would do it again.

I bought ticket online on the day I was in London. Struggled to find the timetable for the buses or bus stops locations even though I downloaded both apps...ended up calling customer service and they advised me the nearest stop from my current location. No tour host on the bus and my audio didn't work. Green route bus never came at 19:20 when we needed to get to Kings Cross to catch our train. We walked for 30mins to the 39 stop to be there on time for the last route and the bus nevevr came. When we finally saw the bus approaching at zirca 19:45, the bus driver said he had his last round and was not taking us. We were baffled as we were waiting on the stop from about 19:15 with other people too but the bus never came. Driver asked us to complain to the bus driver who was parked in this parking space which is why he couldn't stop there....we were there on time, yet the driver was neither emphatetic nor apologetic for the fact that he messed up as we werw waiting at the stop and he was the one who failed to collect us.

The hop on hop off bus was good but we found the audio guide to be poor. Not enough information about important landmarks, out of sync and some of the dialogue was almost derogatory to the British! This is really important for us Brits who don't live in London and want to learn more about the different areas when visiting.

The route would probably have been interesting - unfortunately we had caught the weekend with many closures due to a marathon. However, the audio information was very poor. A bit more information about the sights (the funny ones are nice and I don't want to have to!) would be good.

Travelling around London in a double-decker bus in the sunshine was very pleasant. But the routes are very difficult to anticipate, with detour, cancelled routes, random frequencies... and above all, routes that don't always correspond to the map.

We absolutely loved this experience. The bus stops were very conveniently located and the buses came quite often. There was a lovely audio tour on the bus and free headphones to listen with. The tour gave lots of interesting facts about the sights we were passing. The tour guides were pleasant and careful drivers. We will definitely use the company again when we return to London!

Let me start by saying the Tower of London was brilliant if we had just done that tge experience would have got top marks. But the hop on hop off with Toot was bloody awful and I actually want my money back. The whole point of a tour bus is to learn about the area but their audio mussed so much out and was more interested in telling us pointless stiries about a couple kssing under a bridge, about a guy going to the Imax to see a movue about the artic circle. I couldnt care less about these stories.

The buses weren't as frequent as I thought they were to be. I would have preferred a paper ticket as my phone battery dropped off quickly during the day thereby making it difficult to access the online ticket to show the driver. The traffic congestion was unbelievable and on a couple of occasions I got off the bus and walked as it was much quicker. Obviously Tootbus doesn't have any control on the traffic issues.

Announcements were often repeated. Interesting facts were interrupted in the middle of the lecture. On the green tour there was almost only music and only Ki's voice suffered. Blue tour was the best in terms of entertainment value

Thames River tour was awesome! Excellent tour hosts who provide a wonderful description of what you are seeing. Big Bus tour was good but there are many many more buses from other tour companies that pick up passengers while we waited for the Big Bus. We got off at one stop and had to wait one hour for a Big Bus tour bus to come back to pick us up. This prevented us from getting off at stops in the city as we were concerned that we would not be picked up and would not see the remainder of the blue or red route. We thought we had the evening tour included but our tickets printed "does not include night tour".

The lady at the St. Paul's Cathedral bus stop was fantastic. She was the best part of the experience! We booked online, but she was still incredibly helpful even throwing away my rubbish for me. And HOHO buses are always a fun way to see a lot lazily.

Our first attempt to get on the bus at stop 13 was denied 3 times. The driver wouldn't open the door. You were clearly oversold for that time of day yet accepted our order around the same time. A suggestion is to advise anyone placing an order be notified of which stoppa were heavy. Other companies were picking up people at the same spot without issue.

Everything around the buses was very good - the timings, the routes, the commentaries, and the staff. Was disappointed the the river cruise was just one way.

The cruise portion of the excursion was sub par. The boat had issues and could not board passengers. We had to wait nearly two hours for the next boat. This subsequently affected are schedule.

The audio guide was really good and clear, and done in a humerus way. The only thing bus waiting time was too long, We waited for bus for over an hour, The waiting time was too much. Not 15-20 as informed.

It was fine until mid day when three stops were not operating without warning and disrupted our plans. End of the day at Tower of London we waited for over 45 minutes and finally decided to pay to ride the river boat back.

Ticket purchase was easy & good online👍 with tickets sent to my email. Loved the hopon hopoff buses and the boat trip along the Thames was excellent. But finding the bus stops was tricky without the bus map and knowledge if London. Better signage if bus stops is needed and need to ensure everyone has thebus route map.

The Blue bus and drivers were never at the stops. Waited 40 plus minutes multiple times. Gave up and walked. The very first driver was a jerk. While waiting 15 min to leave he would not answer questions. When he finally did, he blamed the ticket seller, even tho we bought on line. Rode one Red route and it was fine,

The riders did not keep the stops, maybe they skipped them completely and we had to move on and then wait a long time for the next one. Given this and the long delays, I definitely do not recommend this company

Excellent ticket package, bus service was frequent enough and had 3 great routes. The drivers were courteous and helpful in our journey. We also took advantage of the added benefit of a Thames river cruise from Westminster pier to the Tower Pier. Will definitely use Headout again!

From where we were situated on the orange line made it very difficult to get to the blue line because of the busses only coming every hour

We waited three quarters of an hour at the bus stop (which was 3 minutes from the hotel) and no bus came. The buses simply changed their route. We then walked to another meeting point and had to wait there for another half an hour. It was about 1.5 hours before we could actually set off. The audio guide information was far too little, the music was annoying and was more than the information in total!

I liked NOTHING!!! I felt that you mis-advertised the process. I expected 20 minutes between busses. The truth was there was an hour between busses. I am glad that I realized this early in the morning and was able to us the local busses to continue my trip. I will be writing to the tourist board and detailing my problems and experiences.

Nothing, considering that we waited 45 minutes on Friday, November 29, without a single bus from your company, even though several buses from other UP and off companies passed by. I should point out that I was at the right location, where Golden Tour was well signposted. What's more, this changed our entire stay because we had to take the metro for 2 days, incurring additional costs, and on top of that, they wouldn't refund us. Total rip-off.

I hate the music between the sights. I would much rather have a live guide. Not enough time to get on or off.. bad communication on where we are so we had a chance to get off. At on stop we waited for the yellow route. We even said so to a guide at the stop. We waited 30 min and asked the guide again... then he told us that the bus just left 5 min ago. We were there the whole Tim and no bus said yellow route. Then he said it is called the museum route!! Why do you have the top on the busses say red and blue route and then for the yellow it said museum??? It waisted so much of our time and the yellow route was not even worth the wait.

The combined ticket was a last-minute offer that we took advantage of. Overall, we saved more than the 30% mentioned because we didn't use public transport (but Big Bus). Really great: super friendly staff, super detailed directions, including the signs at the stops. For us, all parts of the ticket deserved a particularly good rating.

I visited London with my 12-year-old daughter. We had a combo ticket hop-on hop-or bus, london eye and canal cruise. The hop-on hop-of bus is the best way to see a lot. We were able to see many major tourist attractions without walking through the helex city. A ticket combined with a ticket to the London eye is great. What a spectacular view we had of the city and for 30 min! The canal cruise was also wonderful. The guide could tell great stories. Really enjoyed it!

Especially the boat trip from the London Eye to the Tower with City Cruises was very entertaining, our narrator was a real entertainer! The bus trip was also very nice, hop-on and hop-off worked well, there were always at least 5 languages (English, French, German, Italian, Spanish) available for the audio explanation during the trip, sometimes even significantly more languages. A clear recommendation!

As the Tower and Tower Bridge are close together, a morning and afternoon combination of the two sights is a good idea. We had planned 2 hours for the Tower with two children (aged 7 and 10), which was adequate. We spent the whole afternoon at the Tower. Especially in Tower Bridge, the tour through the museum and the engine room is very entertaining for the children with an accompanying activity.

The tickets were easy to purchase, we chose a dual ticket option with a reduction for seniors. At both places, the staff was very flexible allowing us to enter early. 2 to 3 hours in the Tower is required as there is so much to see. The audio guide is very worthwhile, Beefeater guide attracts large number. Our trip to Tower Bridge was fascinating, worth visiting the engine room, very interesting.

Everything is very well organized so that you can see all the exhibition rooms. You can go at your own pace and stroll around the courtyard. The tower bridge is also very nice, with its transparent floor.

The boat trip on the Thames was great. Especially the tour guide. He spoke very clearly so that I understood everything well even with my English. We only did the yellow route on the city tour. The information underneath was not that good. But overall the tour was recommended

The Tower of London is a real tour! Starting with the Walls and then going into each tower which has its own history, the inside of the courtyard, the Crown Jewels and the ravens. All wonderful! Also nice is the Tower Bridge crossing, though less engaging because it is shorter and less detailed. In any case, COMBO highly recommended! 💯

Everything went really well. Due to the early time in the morning, we didn't have to wait too long. The crown jewels were great. Although I was a bit disappointed at first that the stones were taken out of the first 3 crowns.

Tower Bridge booked from 09:30, was a good decision because it was not yet overcrowded. Tower of London booked at 9:00 a.m. and straight to the Crown Jewels, lots of people from 10:00 a.m. onwards. Nevertheless, everything is very disciplined.

The exhibition at Madame Tussauds was just mega nice! 😍 Everything is really interesting - from the incredibly lifelike wax figures to the interactive design in the various themed areas. I was particularly impressed by the 4D movie theater, which was really fun not only visually, but also with movement and effects. 🎬💥 The ride through London's past was also a real highlight - like a little journey through time in a classic black cab. 🕰️🚖 The whole thing was not only entertaining, but also educational and realized with great attention to detail. Conclusion: Highly recommended - for all ages!

Wonderful experience ,impeccable management 10min line ,once inside staffs very kind and possibility to take pictures with wax statues right away and then offer of an evocative tour inside the real ancient and modern London aboard a special cab train Not to mention the other experience of Marvel 4d cinema :to do absolutely ,calculate at least two hours of visit

London’s biggest icons, from Big Ben to Beyoncé's wax statue, the combo has it all.

  • Two epic experiences, one brilliant deal! Zip around London for 24/48 hours, then rub shoulders with the world’s biggest stars at Madame Tussauds.
  • The hop-on hop-off tour just got better with 50+ stops from Baker Street to Piccadilly Circus. You’ll see so much in so little time that Sherlock Holmes would be impressed.
  • Tune in to the onboard audio guide on the double-deckers and ditch the road for the river as a Thames cruise makes London look straight out of a movie.
  • London’s got A-list landmarks, but at Madame Tussauds, the stars actually pose for you. Flash a smile, snap a pic, and own the spotlight.
  • Meet 150+ lifelike legends, from Benedict Cumberbatch to Kate Winslet, then time-travel 400 years with thrilling 4D movies and immersive rides!

Visited around 1:30 PM and was pleasantly surprised—no crazy queues, just a smooth entry into one of the most iconic attractions in the city. The whole experience? Absolutely awesome. From the moment you step inside, it’s like being dropped into a parallel universe where you’re brushing shoulders with the world’s biggest stars—Beyoncé, The Rock, even the Royal Family (yes, they’re very still, but they look like they could blink any second). The attention to detail is mind-blowing. You’ll catch yourself doing double-takes at nearly every turn. One of the highlights? The Marvel 4D experience—like being caught right in the middle of an action movie! And don’t even get me started on the Star Wars zone… It’s every fan’s dream. The flow of the exhibit was surprisingly chill—no overwhelming crowds, just enough people to make it feel exciting without elbowing your way through. Whether you’re into celebrities, history, sports legends, or just want a fantastic photo op, this place delivers on all fronts. ⭐ Verdict: A must-do in London. Way more fun than expected. Leave your skepticism at the door—you’re about to take selfies with legends. ⭐

The staff were helpful, friendly and informative. The environment itself was spotlessly clean. The information on the wildlife was easy to locate and was easy to understand. It was the second time I had been to the Aquarium in a year and everything was exactly the same, consistency is the key to success here I believe. Not all of the creatures were exhibited but that is only to be expected if there are particular issues concerning that species. Lovely experience. Great day out.

What made our aquarium visit truly special was that we went to celebrate my husband’s birthday — his very first as a new dad! We brought along our 4-month-old baby, and it was such a memorable experience watching our little one be completely mesmerized by the colorful sea life. Seeing his wide eyes follow the fish and other marine creatures made the visit magical and meaningful for all of us. It was a beautiful way to mark a special milestone as a new family.

It was a lovely experience with my grandaughter. ...although..... Sadly - as she is only 2 she was not tall enough to pop up in the domes which is dissapointing seeing we had to pay £35 for her entrance fee. and To have to pay for the VR - was extortion again.. I would understand paying for the VR if her ticket was half the price.

The day was filled with interesting information walking over the sharks at the beginning was excellent. The larger array of fish was impressive It was very busy but taking your time you got to see all of the exhibits. The penguins were great but the jellyfish exhibit was my favourite

Experience is fantastic but ticket cost is too high. One 16 year plus ticket costing £35 is not any worth or value for money. I will request authority to look at it.

Venue was very busy with lots of pushchairs, babies n young children in confined spaces, it felt a little chlostraphobic. I wasn't impressed with standards/tanks species were kept in, best part was penguins although they looked bored, can't blame them! I thought it was expensive for what it was. Staff were very helpful at reception but didn't see many staff when going through exhibitions, but always there for photo sessions!

The aquarium was a bit disappointing compared to others I have visit, especially at almost £40 per ticket. It seemed to be 100% geared for young children and the information was aimed at that level. The jellyfish display was disappointing and the whole experience to about an hour without rushing. I expected more

The staff were very helpful and there were no issues with staff. However I choose big bus as the company stated that buses were every 20-30 mins ect. However this was not the case. We were waiting for much longer periods compared to the cheaper companies who appeared to have a better service. I would never book with the company again. Paying the extra was a waste of money. I would not recommend to friends or family

Not too busy so didn't have to queue for anything. Knowledgable and informative staff member talking at the shark tank. Overall it was a great morning - the whole place feels a little tired though and could do with a bit of a face lift but didn't detract from the enjoyment for my children! Felt quite expensive for what it was - we were there for 2 hours and for a family of 4 it cost £141. Compared to other attractions where you spend much longer I don't think this is as good value for money.

The bus did not show up at the agreed meeting point. We stood there with about 30 people and none of us received a message by email that the meeting point had changed. Over an hour's wait that day was in vain. Nobody could be reached by phone at this time either. The ticket costs were spent on nothing. I wrote a complaint to the provider 2 days later. The whole thing is now being investigated. The fact is that the meeting point has changed, but no one was informed. The costs may be refunded. Just wait and see! Otherwise, I have received a receipt number as compensation. I can use this to get 3 tickets for free next time I'm in London.

The experience was awsome. I felt like Joey and Chandler visiting London. (Friends people will know what I am talking about) What I loved about it was the fact that we had the option to hop on and off whenever we wanted, which gave us the chance to stop at the sites that we wanted to explore further. Also the price compared to other companies was good. Definitely recommend.

We chose 3 because we only had 1 day. It was great because it did not require reservations for Westminster Abbey which was sold out for the day.

I recommend it to anyone who has never been to London before because it allows you to see all the main places in a short time. I enjoyed it very much. The only thing that needs to be improved in my opinion is the correspondence between the audio guide and the place where you are. Good experience.

Tips to make the best of your Hop-on Hop-off London tour

  • London has so much to offer, from the majestic Buckingham Palace to the lively vibe of Camden Market. Take a moment to look at the map and plan which landmarks and neighborhoods you really want to visit. That way, you can focus on enjoying the sights, not stressing over logistics.
  • If you want to get a full day of sightseeing, it’s a good idea to start your tour early. Buses begin running in the morning, so catching the first one means you’ll have plenty of time to visit more attractions at a leisurely pace. Plus, early mornings tend to be a bit quieter, which is perfect if you want to avoid big crowds.
  • Don’t just stick to one route—use your pass to explore all the different lines. You might want to start with the central city route for all the famous landmarks, then switch to a route that takes you to areas like the picturesque Notting Hill or the quirky Shoreditch. Switching up routes gives you a broader view of London, letting you experience the contrast between the historic center and the cool, modern neighborhoods.
  • A lot of Hop-on Hop-off buses in London come with an audio guide that gives you interesting facts about the places you’re passing. You’ll probably be surprised at how much you didn’t know about London, and it makes your tour feel a lot more interactive and fun!
  • London weather can be unpredictable, so make sure to check the forecast before heading out. If it looks like rain, pack an umbrella or a rain jacket, especially if you want to sit on the open-top bus. If it’s sunny, don’t forget sunscreen, as those hours in the open air can get pretty toasty.
  • London is one of the most photogenic cities in the world, so make sure to snap some pictures while you’re on the tour. The view from the top deck is perfect for photos of Big Ben, the Shard, and the London skyline. But also remember to put down your camera sometimes and take in the view with your own eyes—you don’t want to miss out on experiencing the city in real-time!

Frequently asked questions about Hop-on Hop-off London tour

What if I’m only in London for a short time? Is a Hop-on Hop-off tour still worth it?

Absolutely! If you’re short on time, a Hop-on Hop-off bus tour is one of the best ways to maximize your visit. The multiple routes cover major landmarks, so you’ll get a complete overview of London’s must-see sights without feeling rushed. Plus, with buses running frequently, you can see more in a day without spending extra time figuring out transportation.

Do I need to reserve my seats?

No need! Hop-on Hop-off buses don’t require seat reservations. Just show up at any stop with your ticket, and hop on board. The top deck is usually first-come, first-served, so if you want those prime seats with a view, arrive a bit early!

What’s the best time to start the tour?

Starting early is key to making the most of your day. Catch the first bus around 8 or 9 a.m. to avoid crowds and fit in as many attractions as possible. With early mornings often being less busy, you can enjoy a more peaceful start to your adventure and have plenty of time to explore each stop along the way.

What if the weather changes? Are there covered seats?

Yes, most Hop-on Hop-off buses offer covered seating on the lower deck. If it rains or the weather turns chilly, you can easily head downstairs and still enjoy the tour. Of course, London’s weather can be unpredictable, so it’s always smart to bring a light jacket or umbrella just in case!

Do Hop-on Hop-off buses have wheelchair access?

Yes, these buses are designed to be accessible. They have dedicated spaces for wheelchairs, making it easier for all visitors to enjoy the tour. If you have specific needs, let the staff know—they’ll be happy to assist with boarding or answer any accessibility questions you may have.

How do I know when the next bus will arrive?

Most Hop-on Hop-off operators provide a mobile app with real-time updates. You can track your bus, see the estimated arrival time at each stop, and even check for any route changes. It’s super convenient and helps you make the most of your day without waiting around!

Can I bring a stroller or pushchair on the bus?

Yes, strollers and pushchairs are welcome on the Hop-on Hop-off buses! Since London is best explored with the family, the buses are designed to help make your journey smooth. Just remember that space can be limited, so collapsible or smaller pushchairs are easiest to manage on board.

What should I bring along for the best experience on my tour?

For the most enjoyable trip, consider bringing a few essentials: a camera for capturing London’s iconic landmarks, some water to stay hydrated, and comfortable shoes for when you hop off to explore. And of course, keep your smartphone handy to track buses and follow route maps via the app.

Do I need to book in advance, or can I buy tickets on the spot?

While you can sometimes purchase tickets at the bus stop, booking in advance is recommended, especially during peak seasons. This way, you secure your spot, get instant confirmation, and can access any added perks or discounts that come with booking online. Plus, it helps you skip any wait times and hop right on to start exploring!

Can I bring luggage on the Hop-on Hop-off London buses?

You can bring small-sized luggage onboard the sightseeing bus. Big suitcases may not be permitted due to space constraints.
