Things to know before booking your Palace of Versailles tickets

Tickets to the Palace of Versailles are timed, meaning you must choose a specific time slot for your visit. This ticket grants you entry to the Palace within 30 minutes of your chosen slot.
Due to the Palace’s popularity, tickets often sell out 2-3 months in advance, so be sure to book well in advance.
The Versailles Estate is made up of several areas worth visiting. The Palace is the central attraction, including highlights like the Hall of Mirrors, the King and Queen’s apartments, and the Gallery of Battles. Tickets to the Palace also include access to the Gallery of Coaches, right outside the Palace gates.
To fully appreciate the Palace's rich history, opt for a guided tour. These tours offer valuable insights and help you navigate the vast complex, ensuring you don’t miss anything important.
Certain areas of the Palace, like the Royal Chapel, Royal Opera, and the King’s Private Apartments, are inaccessible to the public. However, exclusive private tours provide access to these sections while still allowing you time to explore the rest of the Palace independently afterward. With a dedicated entrance to the Palace, these tours also allow you to skip the long entry lines at the Palace.
The Park is free to visit daily, as are the Gardens, except on days the Musical Gardens (April-October) or the Fountain Shows (April-October) are held. On these days, entry is restricted to ticket holders, with free entry for children under six.
If you have already visited the Palace and just want to visit the estate, we have dedicated tickets for just that.
For full access to the Versailles estate —including the Palace, Gardens, and Trianon Estate—the passport ticket is your best option. It offers excellent value for money, granting you entry to all areas with just one ticket.
If you're visiting from Paris, consider tickets that include round-trip bus transfers. Whether you opt for a standard Palace ticket, guided tour, or passport ticket, adding transfers simplifies logistics, allowing you to focus on enjoying your visit.
The Palace offers free entry on the first Sunday of each month, from November to March. However, you still need to book a time slot in advance to be allowed entry. Expect larger crowds on these days.

What’s the difference between a Passport ticket and a Palace-only ticket?

In addition to the above accesses, a passport ticket grants you entry to the Estate of Trianon.

We recommend booking your tickets at least 2 weeks in advance during peak season (April-October) and 3 days ahead in low season. Popular guided tours can sell out weeks in advance, especially during the summer.

Can I visit the Versailles Gardens for free?

Garden access is free on regular days except during Musical Fountains Shows (Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from April to October). We recommend booking the All-Access Passport if you want to visit on show days, as it includes both palace and garden access.

Do I need a separate ticket for the Musical Gardens or Fountain Show?

Yes, access to these requires separate tickets; unless it is already included in your current ticket.
