Things to know before booking tickets to the Picasso Museum

  • All tickets are timed-entry, allowing you to skip the ticket counter and enter within your selected 30-minute slot. However, you may still face a short wait at security. If you arrive late, staff may accommodate you in the next available slot, but wait times can increase during busy hours.
  • Walk-up tickets are limited. While there is an on-site ticket office, tickets often sell out, especially on weekends, holidays, or during major exhibitions. Booking online guarantees your preferred time slot and helps you avoid long entry queues.
  • On the first Wednesday, the museum stays open until 10pm, with the last entry at 9:15pm. A special “Nocturne” ticket lets you enjoy quieter galleries and sunset views from the courtyard. Book early, as capacity is capped.
  • Groups of 7 or more must book in advance. Group visits without a prior reservation may be denied entry, so be sure to book ahead if you're visiting with a larger group.
  • Enhance your visit with an audio guide, available for rent on-site only (€5) in French, English, Spanish, German, Italian, and Chinese. It offers deeper insight into Picasso’s life, influences, and iconic works.
  • Admission is free on the first Sunday of every month, but these days can get extremely crowded. Entry is also free (with valid ID) for visitors under 18, EU residents aged 18–25, and individuals with disabilities, along with one companion.
  • Note: No ticket is needed for these categories, but you may still need to queue for security.

Permanent collection and temporary exhibitions co-existing harmoniously in a beautiful building. The fact that there are no big queues makes this experience one of the highly recommended in Paris. It can be combined with a nice walk in the surrounding area, even though the museum per se has a nice gift shop, garden and coffee shop.

The ease of access and the way that the Security team were respectful and courtious . The lauot of the museum was better than expected and thoughtful. Although we didn't go into the upper levels we were amazed at the number of creations by Rodin. I think we would need to return to Paris again and take the tour again
