Visitor tips

  • Recommended duration: Plan to spend at least 3–4 hours. This gives you time to explore the interactive exhibits and activities.
  • Don't just stick to the flashy stuff: NEMO Science Museum is great at the big, interactive exhibits, but some of the smaller, quieter ones are real gems. For example, the lab where you can do experiments is often overlooked, but it's where you can really get hands-on with science.
  • Pack a lunch (or snacks): The food at NEMO Science Museum is pricey, and there can be lines. There are designated areas where you can have your food, so packing your own food can save you time and money.
  • Take advantage of the workshops and shows: NEMO Science Museum offers a variety of workshops and shows throughout the day, on topics ranging from chemistry to physics. These can be a great way to learn more about a particular subject in a fun and interactive way. Check the schedule when you arrive to see what's on.
  • Combine it with other Oosterdok activities: NEMO Science Museum is in a cool part of Amsterdam with other attractions nearby. You could combine your visit with a trip to the Scheepvaartmuseum (Maritime Museum) or a walk around the Eastern Docklands.

NEMO Science Museum (Fast-Track Tickets) — tested with a 5-year-old and honestly, a very smart choice 👌 We spent several hours there and it was a mix of fun + learning (the rare combo that actually works). The fast-track tickets were totally worth it — no long waiting, straight into the action. Inside — 5 floors of interactive experiments, games, and “touch everything” science. Kids don’t just watch — they do. And that’s exactly why they love it
