  • Keep an eye out for the double-axe (labrys) symbol carved into walls, it’s a key part of Minoan religious art and mythology.
  • Bring headphones if you're using an audio guide app. It’s much easier to listen and walk without holding your phone up the whole time.
  • Carry cash if you want to purchase guidebooks or souvenirs; the small shop near the entrance has limited payment options.
  • Wear sturdy shoes with a good grip, as the ancient stones are uneven, slippery in parts, and can be tough on sandals.
  • Bring a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen; there’s very little shade inside Knossos, and the Cretan sun is no joke.
  • If you're visiting in summer, bring water. There's no place to buy drinks once you're inside the archaeological site.
  • If you have mobility issues, stick to the main pathways. About half of the site is accessible, but the ruins can get tricky in rougher areas.
  • There's a small café near the parking lot, ideal for grabbing a snack or drink after your visit.
  • Photography is permitted, but avoid using flash inside reconstructed areas.

Absolutely fabulous place that's a must see in Crete! March 16 was perfect time wo lots of tourists! We never knew they discovered Neolithic items under this palace. All items found are in the Heraklion Museum. Some date bk to 8th - 7th millennium BC. Representations of Minoan art were wonderful to see. This is one of the GREATEST TREASURES of our modern world! Don't miss it!

We downloaded the audio guides as recommended. We had no particular problems. However, the navigation information is not always very clear. It took us a while to adapt and understand how it worked. In my opinion, there weren't enough objects described by the audio guide in the museum. But it was good all the same.

There is a parking lot next to the site. We were welcomed by one of the employees and the entry process is smooth. The english audioquide via key tours is a little misleading as it the routing seems to be outdated or is simply a little to short. We ended up double checking multiple of the spots the guides was talking about as we were not sure where to go next. The palace itself is an interesting location for everyone old enough to enjoy ruins and wall painting, so above 12 years according to personal interest I would say. It is a nice open place and allows a perspective on early civilization even for people with little to no history knowledge. I would recommend a visit but with a different audio guide than the one on key tours.

Outstanding! Insight and perspective on such an amazing site that would have been impossible to appreciate from information boards and signs. Brilliant experience.

A very quick and convenient way to travel and get to know the city while also getting access to an important historical site as part of the tour. Recommended!
