The Daintree National Park is open 24 hours a day. However, certain tours and areas have timed access. 

Daintree Ferry: 5 AM to 12 AM every day

Shuttle buses: 8 AM to 5:45 PM 

Cape Tribulation: Closed during the wet season. Closes on the first Sunday after New Year every year and reopens on Good Friday. 

Best Time To Visit

The best time to visit Daintree National Park is during the dry season, which runs from May to October. This is the perfect time for hiking and exploring the rainforest. However, if you want to see some of the seasonal waterfalls, the wet season (November to April) is the time to visit.

Located just two hours north of Cairns, Daintree National Park is easily accessible by car. From Cairns, drive north along the Captain Cook Highway towards Port Douglas, turning off onto the Mossman-Daintree Road. Regular shuttle buses are also available from Cairns.

If your tickets include transfers, you can simply share details of your accommodation when booking your tickets and you will be picked up and dropped back off before your tour starts. Your tour operator will share the transfer information before your tour starts.

  • Ferries do have wheelchair access and can move closer to the banks, but your ferry captain may or may not be able to, depending on the weather and rocky banks.
